A hands-on training session on High-Quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was conducted today in Kallakurichi district for Fire and Rescue Service personnel and members of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Management Committee by Our Kallakurichi District Chairman Dr S Ponnarasu MD ( Basic Life Support and Advanced cardiac life support trained from American Heart Association).
The training program focused on equipping participants with practical skills to deliver effective, life-saving CPR during emergency situations. The session emphasized the importance of early recognition of cardiac arrest, immediate activation of emergency response systems, and performing high-quality chest compressions with correct depth, rate, and minimal interruptions. Participants were also trained in airway management techniques and the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
The hands-on approach allowed firefighters and IRCS management committee members to practice CPR techniques on mannequins under expert supervision, ensuring confidence and competence in real-life emergency scenarios.
This initiative aimed to strengthen the emergency response capacity of first responders in Kallakurichi district and enhance community preparedness in saving lives during sudden cardiac emergencies.
The program concluded with an interactive discussion session and a reaffirmation of commitment towards community health and safety.
