1.The first general body meeting of the newly formed Kallakurichi district chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society was held on Friday.
2.District Collector M.S. Prashanth presided over the meeting.
3.New office bearers were elected for the district chapter.
4.Twenty members were elected to the executive committee.
5.The Indian Red Cross Society has been carrying out commendable work in providing relief during disasters.
The first general body meeting of the newly formed Kallakurichi district chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society was held on Friday. District Collector M.S. Prashanth, who is also the president of the district chapter, presided over the meeting.
In his address, Mr. Prashanth said that the Indian Red Cross Society has been carrying out commendable work in providing relief during disasters and improving the health and well-being of the vulnerable sections of society. He said that a new branch of the society has been started in Kallakurichi district and is functioning actively.
"The first general body meeting of the new district chapter is being held today. At this meeting, new members were recognized, and lifetime membership fees were paid," he said.
Following this, an executive committee was formed, and elections were held to elect the district office-bearers. Of the 73 members who attended the general body meeting, 20 were elected as members of the executive committee, Mr. Prashanth said.
The Collector's Personal Assistant (General) Tmt.M. Dhanalakshmi and members of the Indian Red Cross Society were present at the meeting.
